Wedding Garter: Is the Need for Financing Our Children’s Fun Ever Over?
I have four children and 3 have graduated. Now my youngest is senior in high school. I don’t know how people with really low incomes do it. When I say “it” I mean how can they afford the yearbooks, the prom and all the other events that go along with being a senior in high school? Our family is far from rich, but we not low income either and we really struggle to support our children so they can attend all the fun senior events. I just got home from buying a few things on the prom list such as prom party favors, personalized prom favors and a prom garter. I put a budget on how much we spend on the prom dress and shoes. Otherwise, the sky is the limit as far as the girls are concerned. I can’t wait until they all have jobs and have to pay their own way in life. When I told my mother that, she shared a wise thought with me, she told me no matter how old your children get, you’ll always worry about them and there’ll always be a need for you to help them in some way or another – financial or otherwise. I will not forget my mother’s words. She is a very wise woman. Aside from prom, our church is helping this sweet couple with their wedding needs. I made the wedding favors and my girlfriend made the wedding garter. This couple is so appreciative it makes you feel warm inside and happy for their future together.
